Still searching for my candidate

I am still looking for the perfect candidate!

Fred Thompson seems to be the only true conservative among the front-runners, but I do not see him being the next president.  He started too late, lacks in momentum and does not always polarize his audience.

I like a lot of things about Mike Huckabee, but I am not convinced he is always genuine.  He does get points for being a bass player in my book, but there are not enough of us to escort him to the White House.

Mitt Romney has sealed his fate with me with his “left wing communist statement” in MI stating that no industry will be allowed to fail under his watch.  He has just reinvented corporate socialism.

John McCain is definitely the most likely candidate to protect this country.  His approach to the economy and his history crossing the isle and partner with the left on bad positions is a real concern.  So the question with McCain is security versus the economy and immigration.

Rudy Giuliani is currently at the top of my list.  Although he leans a little left in my book, I believe he will shrink the government, protect our country and find innovative ways to deal with illegal immigration.  I also do not see him making any drastic changes that would fly in the face of Christian Conservatives, even though he tends to be more liberal on the subjects of gay marriage and abortion.  I hope his strategy of waiting for Florida works in his favor.  This could prove to be disastrous or genius.

NH Tuesday

I have been listening to some of the talk radio shows this morning, and I am amazed how many are attacking Huckabee.  He is not a contender in NH, and not even the top supported candidate by evangelicals.  I cannot help but wonder if there is an external influence at play.  Many of these shows are sponsored by the Mormon Church such as Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.  Much of the attacks came after Huckabee's poorly handled response to question about the Mormon Church (although his response was 100% true).  Maybe it is a financial issue.  I hope it is nothing more than that.

I have not decided on Huckabee as my candidate yet.  Actually, I am leaning toward Rudy G at the moment.  I think it is important to consider that we must select a candidate that can protect us, as well as be able to defeat a left wing opponent.  My number one concern for Romney is that his oath to the Mormon Church will supersede his oath of office.  His religion does expect his oath to them be his highest.  What will happen if the best interests in the USA do not line up with the Mormon Church.  Will the president of the Mormons call the President of the USA and give him direction???  Scary stuff.
